Bedtime Rituals

Engaging in bedtime rituals could be the trigger you need to unwind mentally and physically after each day. A skincare regime before bed is important to remove all traces of dirt and makeup and is equally important on the quality of your sleep. With that in mind, embrace some ‘me’ time with these simple but effective bedtime rituals: Removing all makeup at the end of the day is such a crucial part of a skincare regime and your skin will thank you the next morning in the form of a healthy glow. Cleanse your face with an Urban Veda Facial Wash by massaging in circular motions all over the face and neck. Repeat twice for best results. Soothe any aches and pains by relaxing in a warm bath and rejuvenate the skin with our Soothing Body Scrub to buff away dead skin cells. Surround yourself with the spa inducing Sandalwood scent by smothering yourself in the Soothing Body Lotion afterwards to fully hydrate your skin as you unwind.

Golden Milk

Golden Milk is an earthy and creamy hot drink that has been gaining popularity more and more recently and not only does it taste deliciously warming, its main ingredient will help you fall asleep. Turmeric is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It also detoxes the liver, eases the digestive system and lowers the blood sugar levels; three things that the body naturally does as we sleep. By drinking some Golden Milk at around 8pm, you will aid your body’s detoxification process ultimately improving your quality of sleep. Simply add 250ml milk, 125ml water, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, 2/s teaspoon ground turmeric, a pinch of ground nutmeg and a good grind of ground black pepper to a pan. Bring to the boil and then simmer for 10 minutes.

Facial Oils

One last element to a bedtime skincare regime should always be a Facial Oil. Our 100% natural Facial Oils are the perfect end to a busy day and lock in the vital nutrients. More beneficial the longer they are worked into the skin. Then, massage in circular motions over the face and neck with a bronze Kanza Wand. This pushes the product and therefore all the nutrients further into the skin. Resist the temptation to be on your phone or watch TV all evening. Especially an hour and a half before you plan on going to sleep. The blue light in these devices confuse the brain as they prevent the sleep hormone, melatonin, from being produced. Thus making it much harder to drift off. Instead, try to meditate or opt for some light reading before turning the bedside light out. Lastly, don’t put too much pressure on yourself to fall asleep instantly. The chances are, that if you have done these steps to let yourself unwind, you will probably fall asleep with no problem at all!
