The Benefits of Aromatherapy

The Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that utilises essential oils to improve mental and physical wellbeing. Derived from plants, essential oils have been used within the field of Ayurveda for thousands of years. Examples of essential oils include: Sandalwood Tea Tree Turmeric Root Rosehip ...and guess what? We include All of the above across the entire range of Urban Veda products! This isn’t a coincidence, and we are proud to offer an aromatherapeutic quality alongside the active benefits of our products. By incorporating essential oils, we have been able to balance the emotional aspects of the doshas that our ranges are tailored to! If your Pitta dosha is a little off balance, you may be feeling stressed and hot-headed. Your skin may look a little red and your muscles will be tense and cortisol is likely to be high. It’s important we minimise the stress we’re exposed to, not just for our skin’s sake, but also so we don’t risk long term health complications and gut issues.

Soothing Range

With this in mind, we formulated our Soothing Range. We chose Sandalwood, due to its calming and cooling properties, to sit within this range and we’ve been amazed with the feedback we've gotten from the inclusion of this essential oil. From those looking to ease symptoms of PMS to those looking to reduce the appearance of scars, Sandalwood has been at the top of everyone’s list since we started! Sandalwood is also very healing and therefore can add a sense of comfort to your environment. Best used at the end of the day when it's time to unwind, the Sandalwood in our Soothing Range gives a spa-like quality to any self-care ritual.

Purifying Range

If you’re feeling a little sluggish and lacking in motivation, it’s likely your Kapha dosha is out of balance. Here to uplift, the Tea Tree Oil found in our Purifying Range provides fresh and energising aromas. If feeling slightly depressive, the aromatherapeutic qualities of Tea Tree will inspire positivity and optimism. Acting as a natural antibacterial, Tea Tree is praised for detoxification, decongestion and oil regulation. The Purifying Range promises just what it says on the tin. And the essential oils contained within its formulation help provide both healing and rejuvenating qualities.

Radiance Range

We’ve all had a time in our life when the ground has been metaphorically shaken beneath our feet and anxiety levels are a little high. Here’s where Turmeric Root Oil, found within our Radiance Range, can help you feel tranquil and at peace. Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, Turmeric calms and restores the skin to a natural equilibrium. It cultivates and harnesses a natural glow, which not only makes things appear brighter but also feelbrighter too! Within aromatherapy, Turmeric Root Oil aligns perfectly with the rebalancing of Vata’s ‘flighty’ energy and provides emotional reassurance during times of change.

Reviving Range

When you’re feeling a little sensitive to your environment and yearn for a tender dose of rejuvenation. Rosehip Oil is the cooling caretaker that will provide you with more suppleness than you can shake a stick (...or Dry Body Brush) at! Key ingredient within our Reviving Range, Rosehip works wonders as an aromatherapeutic oil for menopausal women and those suffering from severe PMS. The floral notes of Rosehip Oil’s aroma provide an uplifting and comforting quality, whilst also suggested to rebalance female hormones. So, all in all, it’s no wonder aromatherapy is such a well-recognised form of alternative therapy. The question is, which oil will you try first?!
