Discover our Digital Detox
A digital detox is a period of time during which someone refrains from using electrical devices. Such as smart-phones and computers. This enables you to spend some quality time screen-free, doing something you enjoy. And this also acts as an opportunity to reduce stress, focus on social interactions and to connect with nature.
With the fantastic technology surrounding us every day, it can be easy to find yourself a little lost when immersed in various screens. Whilst computer games and social media platforms can be fun, they can also feel somewhat consuming and can affect our wellbeing.
Digital detoxification can give us a chance to take a break and ‘recharge’, which can help us to change our perspective and potentially help us to be more productive. Taking a step back and relying less on electrical devices can feel refreshing and do us the world of good.
Thinking of going on a digital detox? Simply switch off all your electronic devices for a certain length of time.
Not sure how?
We’ve pulled together a few tips to get you on your way...
- Try using an old-fashioned alarm clock – don’t rely on your smart-phone to wake you up in the morning
- Put pen to paper – use a traditional paper diary, write letters, keep a journal, colouring, get creative
- Get outside – take advantage of your surroundings and go for a walk. There’s plenty to do when you’re out and about, so make the most of it and appreciate the natural world around you.
- Stay social – reducing time spent on social media does not have to disrupt your relationships. Instead, take time to meet your loved ones in person and to fully enjoy their company
- Practice mindfulness – without the distractions of electrical devices, you may find yourself observing and noticing things you may have previously missed. Take the time to glance around and fully take in your surroundings.
- Try meditation – take some time out to clear your mind through the practice of meditation. Not sure how to meditate? Learn how here: How To Meditate
- Work out – whether you prefer to exercise outside or inside, as part of a group or solo, a workout can benefit the mind as well as the body.
